Mount Seymour Provincial Park Recreation Facility Plan

Located just 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver, Mount Seymour Provincial Park is enjoyed by visitors from the Lower Mainland and beyond. They participate in a variety of outdoor activities, including skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, and mountain biking. As the number of visitors to Mount Seymour continues to rise, there is growing pressure on the park’s facilities and resources.

BC Parks is working on a Recreation Facility Plan to identify what facilities and services are needed to:

  • provide a range of enjoyable, high-quality, and safe outdoor recreation opportunities for visitors, and
  • help manage the increasing number of visitors to protect the environmental and cultural integrity of the park.

The Recreation Facility Plan will identify and recommend facility improvement projects to potentially complete in the future. The plan will consider existing visitor use challenges and recommend facilities that provide practical solutions to problems. It will look at the following aspects of the park:

  • Indigenous interests
  • Environmental interests
  • Visitor use pressures and trends
  • Parking/congestion
  • Accessibility
  • Existing and potential new park facilities

We want to hear from you. Note the closing date for survey has extended to May 23.

Input from stakeholders and the community is essential to this process. We want to know how you use Mount Seymour Provincial Park, your perspectives on the park, and your ideas for the future. Your input will help inform recommendations for facility improvements in the Recreation Facility Plan. This page features a community survey (closes May 8, 2023) and an interactive mapping tool where you can add comments about specific locations in the park.

This Recreation Facility Plan and its engagement process are not replacements for a Park Management Plan and associated engagement. This plan and process will inform the Mount Seymour Management Plan, which is being prepared in collaboration with First Nations.
